Vacuum Cleaner Review
The Hoover EmPower Bagless Upright U5269900 is a compact
vacuum cleaner with a folding handle for easy storage and a Power Boost
button that increases suction for deeper cleaning of tougher areas. At
around $100 dollars, this Hoover vacuum has a lot of extras included in the
price that normally would be found on higher-end machines.
One of the more interesting features included on the Hoover EmPower Bagless
Upright U5269900 is a hush mode with the ability to make the vacuum much
quieter while in operation. This feature is particularly nice in homes with
children who nap or in apartments where community quiet hours may make
vacuuming late at night or in the early morning against the rules. This
Hoover lets the operator get around all of that with the touch of a switch.
Another detail that Hoover added to this model is a Power Boost switch which
provides just what the name implies, a surge in power provided to the vacuum
with just the press of a fingertip button. For pet-owners, this addition is
a helpful one in that pet hair has a tendency to become interwoven in
upholstery and carpet fibers over time and the Hoover EmPower gives a jolt
of extra suction power to yank the hair out of these materials.
The Hoover EmPower Bagless Upright comes with a 31 ft. power cord length
that is the perfect size for residential applications. The extra length is
helpful to the operator because less time is used repositioning the cord
throughout the house. Other helpful details include a headlight for darker
areas under furniture and a 5-setting height adjustment dial, perfect for a
variety of environments from bare floors to shag carpeting. As mentioned,
the handle allows for more compact storage because it folds down easily.
This fact also means that this Hoover unit doesn't require assembly by the
operator and is ready-to-go right out of the packaging.
Perhaps one of the best thing about Hoover uprights is that they almost
always come with a tool kit. The Hoover EmPower also includes a full tool
kit that stores on board and has a pet hair cleaning tool that also stores
nicely on the unit for handy retrieval. The tool kit includes a crevice
tool, upholstery brush and the turbo-powered pet hair tool, as well as a
deluxe stretch hose that allows the operator to reach areas that are
normally less accessible such as under furniture or higher up where cobwebs
tend to accumulate.
There are a few drawbacks to this Hoover vacuum, the most concerning being
the position of the on-off switch, which is located on the front of the body
and not on the handle near the grip. This can be an issue if something
unintended is run-over while vacuuming and the operator wastes time locating
the switch out of reach on the front. Although this Hoover model does not
include self propulsion, brushed edge cleaning or extra indicator lights,
there are enough other features that make it appealing, not to mention the
great price. A 1-year warranty is also included, which coupled with the fact
that this is a bagless Hoover with a lifetime HEPA filter, makes this one
hot buy.
