dollars, this is a Hoover vacuum that falls on the upper end of the
low-price category. On this particular Hoover, there are some really nice
extra features that are commonly found on more expensive machines.
The Hoover WindTunnel 2 Bagged comes
with a Breathe-Easy Hygienic Filter bag system and a lifetime belt. There is
a Real-Time Tool System with a Tag-Along Grip which means that the tool kit
is located and stores right on the machine for easy access. The telescoping
Quick-Release Wand means that adding extension wands is unnecessary as the
wand is already ready-to-go. There is a pet hair cleaning tool that stores
on-board as well and is effective on upholstery and carpeted stairs.
Other features include an automatic
brush shut off feature that shuts the motor for the brush off as soon as the
vacuum cleaner wand is removed from the machine. An embedded DirtFINDER
system notifies the operator when the floor is clean by activating a light.
A headlight and soft wheels make this a nice machine to use in darker areas
or around furniture. The automatic rewind feature is nice and saves the
operator a lot of time when preparing the machine for storage. Hoover's
standard 1-year warranty is also included.
Overall, the Hoover WindTunnel 2 Bagged
Upright 8311900 is a good vacuum cleaner but there are some things that
buyers may want to consider. First, this is a very heavy machine and is not
self-propelled which may be an issue for some people. Another problem is
that replacement bags may be difficult to find locally, and while the belt
is considered a lifetime belt and shouldn't need to be replaced, a service
call will be necessary in the case that it does fail.
Other things to note about this Hoover
vacuum cleaner involve the cord rewind system. The cord is a decent length
of 28' and fully rewinds, but the speed with which it rewinds is quite fast.
On one hand, it is great to save the extra time not having to rewind the
power cord, but it is advised to take care to not allow the quickly
retreating cord and the subsequent plug to hit anything while the mechanism
rewinds.

especially if large areas of carpeting are being cleaned. The telescoping
wand is a nice feature and saves a lot of time and the tool kit that
attaches to it are very handy at reaching more difficult areas. The HEPA
filter is nice for allergy sufferers and pet owners and the latter will
appreciate the included pet hair tool. The suction is good on this Hoover
vacuum cleaner and the fact that it is a bagged machine makes it appealing
to those people who prefer a bagged system, although finding bags may be an
issue in certain areas. The brushed edge cleaning feature is a nice touch
and is effective at removing debris along baseboards and furniture.
